Comments from our Gardeners & Community Members:

"My life is better.  It has been many years (25) since I last did some gardening.  It was great to grow things and it was fun.  I loved the exercise.”

“I enjoyed being able to raise some of my own produce and share it with others.  There’s something very satisfying about eating directly out of one’s own garden.”
“It was great to have the ability to pick fresh ingredients/foods during breaks during the work day.”

“Healthier for my kids, able to can lots of veggies for use over the winter.”

"Local good produce to eat & share; a greater sense of health and calm in my life.”

“I tried new foods, was proud of growing my own food.”

“Having fresh food was great for my family this season.”

"I wanted to share my experience from the Bridge Community Garden. This has been a fantastic program for my family and me. It has provided my family and I with education, growth as a family, hands on, and best of all, the bounty of the garden while living in the city. We are now reaping the rewards of fresh organic vegetables that we grew ourselves through the summer. From canning, freezing, or just pulling the ripe red tomatoes off the vines and eating them. We sure would not have had this experience if it wasn't for all the help from the community in providing the gardens. Thanks to all who made the project possible! I'm a single mother of two daughters that love fresh vegetables!"

"I knew that Bridge Clinic was actively involved with a community garden. What a great way to help the patient get fresh vegetables and give him pride in growing it himself. He stated that he knew a thing or two about gardening and would be interested in a plot but could not afford one. I found an anonymous donor for him and he was at the garden every day and even shared some of his produce with our interpreter. He grew tomatoes, peppers, onions, herbs and much more. He had the best looking plot in the garden.

Sometimes as a diabetic educator you assume that patients can always get access to three meals a day."
