Wausau 2nd Street Community Garden March Classes

2/17/2012

Wausau 2nd Street Community Garden will continue to provide educational opportunities in the months to come.  We will be hosting three classes In March: healthy cooking, gardening, and health and wellness.

In celebration of National Nutrition Month (March) Jeri Brunner will be instructing our March cooking class.  She will teach and share techniques on how to make three variations of kielbasa/sausage - a pan dinner, a "gourmet" chicken and a vegetarian medley.  She will also provide information on how to keep your food budget healthy and light.  This cooking class will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Salvation Army from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Wausau 2nd Street Community Garden's very one Master Gardener, Debbie Shaw, will be here at Bridge Clinic to share with you how to get your garden ready for the up and coming growing season.  She will share information and ideas on seed selection, when to start seedlings, where to go for soil testing and to help answer questions you may have.  Join us in planning for your garden.  Garden education class will be held on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

William Wright will be at Bridge Clinic on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. to provide information on how to continue gardening with arthritis.  Having arthritis should not prevent you from continuing to do what you enjoy, such as gardening.  William will share his vast knowledge on gardening with arthritis and share with you tools and resources are available in the community.

If you are interested in participating in any and/or all classes, please contact our AmeriCorps Member via email at yengv@bridgeclinic.org or by phone at 715-848-4884.  Looking forward to serving our community.

Growing our community with healthy and nutritional foods

As we enter into the new year, new beginnings are flourishing at every turn.  The Wausau 2nd Street Community Garden is working its way towards a wonderful and lush garden season.  We are excited about getting our education classes running and on the road.  We will be providing cooking, garden education and health and wellness classes.

To make our classes successful in educating and empowering community members, we are looking for chefs, garden educators and health and wellness instructors.  Classes are free or with a minimal fee or donation goods for the food pantry.  We are a non-profit organization serving the community, however, do have money in our budget to cover some costs.  We are looking for chefs, teachers, gardeners, and wellness instructors to join our community garden family and help teach and share with our community members.  If interested please contact Yeng, AmeriCorps Member, at yengv@bridgeclinic.org.  Thank you and hope to see you at our garden education classes.
